5. Quality Disclaimer:
The most common problems with Artworks & Printing
(What is not covered in the product quality guarantee?)
1. Symmetrical Borders, especially thin boarders are easy to cause uneven visual
result. This is due to an industrial standard 1-2 mm deviation in the automatic
trimming process
2. Contents too close to the border do not look good with some designs. We recommend
that all texts and graphics are set to be 3 - 5mm away from borders to avoid this
problem.
3. The result of background colours less than 8% (CMYK colour) are difficult to
predict in printing and sometime may seem uneven. It is wise to avoid using background
of such colours.
4. Colour variations are common and unavoidable in CMYK printing process. It is
wise to set the two side of a business card with full background in different colours
to avoid any perception in colour difference.
5. We strongly recommend lamination / varnish on products with one side dark background
to borders and the other side white or light colour background. Colours on uncoated
cards are easy to be damaged and make the other side look dirty.
6. Some colours are most vulnerable in CMYK colour variation. ( Dark Blue, Coffee,
Purple, Orange & Other CMYK mixed heavy colours) The only way to present these colours
accurately is to use PMS Spot colour printing process.
7. Lamination would certainly cause colour variation. Generally speaking, matt lamination
is likely to make colour look darker and gloss lamination is likely to make colour
look lighter. However the final result is unpredictable. This variation is unavoidable
even with Spot Colours.
8. It is strongly recommended to use single black (100% K) on letters over white
background. Four colour black (100% C 100% M 100% Y 100% K) would almost certainly
cause problems.
9. Folded cards on Artboard stock that is not laminated are easy to have a breakage
along the folding line. This is due to the very nature of the material and is not
considered faulty. Please select lamination option if this is not a desired result.
